General Coverage Guidelines & Issuing
(Learn the back-end of the business and what underwritters are looking for with each application to determine if it will get issued! Keep in mind this page is not for underwriting bulletins - please refer to our MODS and Underwritting Tab for that)
Headstarts
Home office has in the past removed extra ADB that is not equal or less then the whole life given
25k is the standard headstart coverage. If the child has any current coverage make sure you take that into consideration and don't overtop!
Very few exceptions happen for policies above the face value of 25k. If exceptions do happen it is because the parents have much more coverage then the headstart amount.
Waiver of Premium
Waiver of premium gets removed or gets given an exclusion if they have any pre exisiting injuries. For example, if the client has had surgery on their knee and they fall and are disabled due to that knee injury they will most likely need the client to sign a Signed Amendment upon the policy being issued to add an exclusion to that saying that the waiver of premium will not apply if they get injured from their knee again.
Waiver of premium can be removed due to Marijuanna, Depression, Diabetes, Alcohol history, and DUI via Signed Amendment upon issuing status.
TIR (Terminal Illness)
Home office can sometimes remove TIR due to Depresion, Asthma, Marijuanna, Alcohol History, Diabetes amongst others via Signed Amendment upon issuing status. It's important you only give out TIR to those without many health issues.
ADB (Accidental Death Benefit)
Total coverage of ADB that can be given is 200k for an adult and up to 100k for a child
ADB can be removed due to Marijuanna, Depression, Diabetes, Alcohol History, and DUI via Signed Amendment upon issuing status
Covid Rules
SSN or SIN's
Home office does not accept any application without a SIN or SSN listed on the eapp.
ALP NPRD Standards
Any sales over 3,500 ALP will be automatically submitted as a NPRD until issued on your end. It's important to still prep the client for the premiums to come out - a NPRD just affects you. Everything on the clients end remains the same as a regular enrollement.
