Life License

This license is for recruiting/growth purpose as well as personal production so both agents and managers may apply! The cost for this life license is $125 CAD. Cost is subject to change without notice. Every year you must complete 30 hours of continual education.

Step 1 - Apply in Newfoundland

• Email altigoffice@gmail.com letting them know you will be applying

• Once confirmed with Altig Office fill out the online application

Step 2 - Where to Apply

• Please go to https://cfs-portal.gov.nl.ca/fsrd/sfjsp?interviewID=Login and apply

• Pay online ($125 CAD) and then email altigoffice@gmail.com and cc your manager letting them know you have applied

They may send a physical copy confirming that you have been life licensed. However, you'll likely need to look it up yourself up on the their website (we recommend looking frequently). To see if it is active look below under "Check if your Newfoundland License has Come in!". 

Once you are life licensed please email altigoffice@gmail.com and cc your manager letting them know so that they can help you get your Newfoundland agent number. 

Click the link below and control F (or command F) and type in your name to see if it pops up. Newfoundland updates their active life licenses weekly. Which explains why you'll see sporadic 7 days apart along with a month. Find the nearest date to today and search, if you see your name pop up... Congrats your license has come in! 

Once you are life licensed please email altigoffice@gmail.com and cc your manager letting them know so that they can help you get your Newfoundland agent number.

Step 1 - Apply for Alberta

• You will need to apply for Life and A&S licenses separately.

• Go to https://licensing.abcouncil.ab.ca/#!/login/with/cipr

• Login using your CIPR info

• On the left side click "Licenses"

• On right side click "Apply for a License"

• Business Name -  leave blank do not fill in.

• Apply for yourself and select license class of “Full Life – Agent” and “Accident & Sickness” (when applying again). Sponsoring company is American income life and you’re working as a sole proprietor.  

• Fill out the application FULLY. For background checks, click the third option that says I would like to apply for a back check criminal record check. On the bottom where it asks who will be paying for the application fee, DO NOT CLICK AIL. You must pay for it yourself.

• When you’re done, complete the application and then go back to pay the fee in the home page.

Step 2 - Apply for Alberta

Repeat the above steps this time choosing A&S license. 

Step 3 - Apply for Alberta

When you’ve fully applied and paid for both licenses. Email christopherhintz@outlook.com Justine@aoedmonton.com altigoffice@gmail.com and CC your MGA and your direct manager with your full name saying that you have applied so that he can go and send your application through to the Alberta Insurance Council.

Step 4 - Apply for Alberta

You're almost done! The Licensing Council of Alberta will communicate with you via email and once you're approved they'll send you an email confirmation with your license and that point you'll need to forward it to altigoffice@gmail.com to get your agent number set up! 

Check frequently https://licensing.abcouncil.ab.ca/#!/login/with/cipr when your license says active you've officially received your life license! 

You must have your 15 hours of continual education completed in order to renew your license. Cost to renew approx $95 CAD for Life and $65 CAD for Accident and Sickness. License needs to be renewed yearly.

To renew follow the same steps as applying but select "Renew" instead.

Your license automatically expires every year on June 30th, no grace periods are given so if you miss the time to renew you'll need to restart the process all over again!

Only managers can apply to BC unless you are a resident of BC. This is for recruiting/growth purposes only. Cost for life license is approx $300 CAD. Must be approved by your RGA before applying as not everyone will be approved.

Fill out the two documents below and send them back to altigoffice@gmail.com with a copy of government ID & proof of HLLQP. Once recieved Corrissa will send them to Joanne and Meaghan to sign, these will then be returned to you to email into the council.

1. Email the completed form(s) and supporting documents to licensing@insurancecouncilofbc.com.

2. An online portal (click here to view) account will be created for you. Please wait for instructions via email, for login information and how to pay for your application. 

3. Your application will then be reviewed by a Licensing Officer, typically within 10-15 business days. (See processing times by clicking here)  If additional information is required, you will be notified by email.

4. On approval of your application, you will receive a confirmation email from BC Licensing Team.

Fill out the two documents below and send them back to altigoffice@gmail.com with a copy of government ID & proof of HLLQP. Once recieved Corrissa will send them to Joanne and Meaghan to sign, these will then be returned to you to mail off to the Insurance Council of British Columbia with the address below:

Once BC receives the application, your application will be in the portal and they will ask you to pay through the portal.

Once you are life licensed please email altigoffice@gmail.com and cc your manager letting them know so that they can help you get your BC agent number. 

All licenses must be renewed yearly and before June 1st. 

You will not notified to complete the renewal and if it is renewed late, after July 31, your license will be terminated and not renewed. Cost will be on renewal and is subject to change each year. All changes in price will be posted on their website.

Step 1 - Apply in Manitoba

To apply you must make a portal account. Go to https://www.icm.mb.ca/ click online portal on the left handside.

• Register for an account

• The type of account will be an agent

• Fill out personal information

• This will register you for an account with a username and password

• The portal will then send you an email (may go to spam) with the login details to apply
  
  

Step 2 - How to Apply

• Once you have logged into your personal portal

• Select "New Licence"

• Insurance Class: life and accident and sickness (option is close to the bottom of the selection)

• Agency: Leave blank

• Sponsor: American Income Life (it should come up as your typing it)

• Confirm your personal information

• When you get to other licences, you will need to upload a copy of all active Canadian Licences you have as well as list them in the comment portion

• Upload E&O insurance

• Upload proof of LLQP completion 

• Answer all questions after that truthfully and honestly.

The cost to renew this life license is anywhere between $90-$240 CAD depending on year of tenure in inusrance, fees are subject to change yearly. Every year you must complete 30 hours of continual education in your home province in order to be eligble to renew. This renewal needs to be done yearly on May 31st, renewal opens via online portal in April/early May.

• They'll ask for payment and to submit an updated version of your E&O

• Register for an account

• The type of account will be an agent

• Fill out personal information

• Register you for an account with a username and password.

• The portal will then send you an email (may go to spam) with the login details to apply

Step 2 - Apply in Saskatchewan

Once you have logged into your personal portal

• Select "New Licence"

• "Insurance Class" is Life and Accident and Sickness (option is close to the bottom of the selection)

Before you jump in contact altigoffice@gmail.com first as we need permission to send in your application before hand. Also, these two licenses are only for managers to apply as they are for recruiting/growth purposes only. Please complete the two steps below before filling out your application for each state.

Step 1 - Letter & Money Order

In order to apply to Illinois and Virginia you will need to have these two steps completed first: Get your Letter of Certification from your province or state and a money order from your bank of $380 USD payable to the "Illinois Director of Insurance", if applying in Illinois or a money order of $30 USD to "Virginia Bureau of Insurance", if applying in Virginia respectively. Please note, the date of the "Letter of Certification" must be no more than 90 days from when Illinois or Virginia receive your application. • You will need two things: A PDF copy of all your license history and a Certificate of Status

• To get your License History go Under “Licensing” click on “Print License History” which is located to the right

• To get Certificate of Status that entails a fee of $25 to be issued please email licensing@abcouncil.ab.ca to request it

Ontario Letter (FSRA Request for Licensee Information from FSRA)

Open the attachment below, fill out the document and sign (print and sign if you can't do a virtual signature). 

How to Fill Out: 

• Go to https://www.fsrao.ca/media/2421/download 

• Type of Document being Requested - "Certificate of Authority"

• Fill out personal information

• License type - Insurance Agents 

• Click "Online Services Portal" to fill out the information 

• Choose "Request a Licensing Letter" or "Certificate for Insurance Agent" 

• On the next page upload the document you've signed and saved and pay the $25 fee. 

10-15 days they will email a copy of your document please send it to altigoffice@gmail.com and save the letter as well for yourself. Keep a look out in your junk mail.

 You must have your hours of continual education completed in order to renew your Illinois license if it is your home state. Total cost to renew is $380 USD.

The process below only applies to Canadians. If you are in America you can fill it out and renew your license online. The renewal fee will be $20 USD *prices subject to change without notice. Please note that all Virginia licenses expire on your month of birth yearly. To renew your license please fill out the attached form and send it to:

Please make sure to read the following instructions below, for your application.

A couple of things to keep in mind;

1. When sending your fingerprints into Biometrics, using tracking mail system. Also have a photocopy of the fingerprints with your application to CDI.

2. Keep a copy of the entire application for your records including finger prints etc.

3. Using a tracking mailing system for your entire application. 

4. Keep in mind these are US Funds.

Application Procedures-Individual Non-Residents

License Information

Please follow the steps noted below to complete an application:

Step 1 - Fingerprint Processing: a non-resident individual application for an insurance license will be required to file fingerprint impressions prior to submitting their application to the CDI. The Non-Resident Applicants to File Fingerprint Impressions web page lists the procedures on how to submit the fingerprint impressions.

Step 2 - 1033 Application for Written Consent: Any person who has been convicted of felony crimes of dishonesty or breach of trust in a state or federal jurisdiction, or who has been convicted of any violation of Title 18 U.S.C. § 1033 (the "Act"), must first obtain the written consent of the Commissioner prior to engaging or continuing to engage in the business of insurance in California.

Step 3 – Complete the attached paper application and send it to CDI with the filing fee.

Step 4 - License filing fee  - two year term: $188

Fingerprint Requirements

Please complete the following steps to submit fingerprint impressions*:

Step 1

Fingerprint impressions must be taken by a law enforcement agency (police department, sheriff's office, etc.) or an authorized vendor who can complete paper fingerprinting on a standard FBI fingerprint card. The fingerprint card is usually available from the law enforcement agency that you contact to do the printing. 

Step 2

Include the total processing fee for the fingerprint impressions in the amount of $59. Either include a check made payable to Accurate Biometrics, which is CDI's contracted vendor or complete the credit card form that is attached to the Licensing Applicant Instructions, LIC 442-39A.

Mail the fingerprint card, completed Live Scan Service Request, BCIA 8016 and check or completed credit card form to:

*Note: Your application will not be processed until your fingerprint impressions are sent to Accurate Biometrics and results from DOJ and FBI are received at CDI.

Please note that California has a CE requirement for Canadian non-resident licenses.  There are other US states that may also require continuing education.

It varies by state, most states are every 2 years, but some are every 4 years. I would check each state on the state website to confirm the requirements.

Please make sure that you note your calendar for a month or two before the CE courses are due, so that the agents will have time to complete them before their license expires.

You must have completed your 24 hours of continual education in order to renew your US license.

This applies to both Illinois and Virginia. Cost to renew Illinois is $5 USD and Virginia $10 USD. Both states renews every 2 years on the last day of your birth month. 

How to Renew Your Resident Producer License

• Click the link below

• Click on “Apply for License” 

At “Select a type of application” click on the drop down and select “Renew License” 

At “Select the state in which you wish to apply” click on the drop down and select “Illinois” 

• At “Are you a resident or a non-resident of that state?” click on the drop down and select “Resident”

• At this page click on the green “APPLY HERE” 

• At USE AGREEMENT page, scroll to the bottom and click on “Accept” 

• At this next page click on the drop down at “Resident State” and select “Illinois” 

• “License Type:” click on the dot next to “Individual” 

• “What do you want to do:” click on the dot next to “Apply to renew an existing Resident License OR resume an existing renewal application. 

• Under “Resident License Renewal” heading enter your NPN number then your “License Number” (NPN# again) 

• Click on “NEXT” 

• Under “License Class” make sure the dot next to “Producer” has been marked and all of your Lines of Authority are listed, click on “NEXT” 

• PERSONAL DATA page, complete any biographical information that has a red * and has not already been filled in for you, click on “NEXT” 

• AGENCY OR BUSINESS ENTITY AFFILIATIONS page is not required by Illinois, you may skip this and click on the “NEXT” button. 

• BACKGROUND QUESTIONS answer all of the questions truthfully and click on “NEXT” 

• APPLICANT’S CERTIFICATION AND ATTESTATION page, read carefully then click on the box next to “Agree”, click on the “NEXT” button. 

• VERIFICATION EMAIL page select or add an email address to have your verification message sent to then click “NEXT” 

• SUBMITTER page, if you are completing the application for yourself, click on the dot next to the word “Yourself” if you are filling this out for someone else, please indicate that and complete the rest of the form. Click on “NEXT” 

• FEE DETAILS, this page informs you of the fee required for the renewal. Click on “NEXT” 

• Choose Payment Type page, click on the method you wish to pay and complete the “Billing Details” paying special attention to the red *. Click on “Next” 

• This is as far as this instructions sheet can go with you, please print out anything that you are allowed to print for your records.
